History and Significance of the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is steeped in history and holds immense significance in Indian culture. Commissioned in 1632 by Emperor Shah Jahan, it was built as a mausoleum for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away during childbirth. The Taj Mahal stands as a tribute to their eternal love and is considered one of the most romantic monuments in the world.

The construction of the Taj Mahal took over 20 years and involved the labor of thousands of skilled artisans and craftsmen. The white marble used in its construction was brought from various parts of India and other countries. The architectural style combines elements of Persian, Islamic, and Indian design, creating a unique blend of influences.

Architectural Features of the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is renowned for its architectural brilliance and exquisite detailing. Its symmetrical design is a hallmark of Mughal architecture, with four minarets framing the central mausoleum. The main dome, reaching a height of 73 meters, is an engineering marvel and is adorned with intricate calligraphy and decorative motifs.

The delicate marble inlays, known as pietra dura, are a highlight of the Taj Mahal's design. Semi-precious stones such as jasper, lapis lazuli, and turquoise were used to create intricate floral patterns and geometric designs. The play of light on these inlays adds depth and richness to the overall aesthetic.

The Story Behind the Construction of the Taj Mahal
The construction of the Taj Mahal is a tale of love, grief, and dedication. After Mumtaz Mahal's death, Emperor Shah Jahan was devastated and vowed to build a fitting tribute to his beloved wife. The construction began in 1632 and continued for over two decades, with thousands of artisans working tirelessly to bring the emperor's vision to life.

Legend has it that Shah Jahan intended to build a black marble mausoleum for himself across the river, as a mirror image of the Taj Mahal. However, before this could be realized, he was deposed by his own son and spent the rest of his life under house arrest, gazing at the Taj Mahal from his window.

Visiting the Taj Mahal - Ticket Information and Timings

This is a wonderful tour which gives you a new idea and great knowledge about Rajputs and historical monuments of Jaipur. So plan your one day holiday and visit the Pink City of India’.

Classic Tours India  Same Day Jaipur Tour by Car which is full of adventures and great joy.  Jaipur is the most beautiful city which was founded by Raja Sawai Jaisingh in the year 1727 AD. Jaipur architectural planning may have been ancient, but its execution was definitely modern. Best represented by the City Palace complex, it brought together all that was excellent in Rajput and Mughal architecture, creating a new tradition that found wide currency over much of north India. As in the Mughal tradition, the durbar or court areas became much more open, characterized by a series of arched pavilions held on delicately crafted pillars. Ornamentation had always been a part of the state architectural heritage, now it became much more opulent. The private wings of the family also extended their entertainment areas. Since defense was no longer a primary concern, larger, more ornamental windows were built to overlook the streets or courtyards outside these wings. Gardens were no longer planned within the internal courtyards only but were added to the external vistas, and water, a basic feature of Mughal palaces and gardens, was utilized in a similar fashion, in canals and fountains.  Jaipur is famous for their arts and architectures and also famous for their Royal Tradition. There are many interesting places like Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Jal Mahal, Birla Temple etc. Classic Tours India also offering Same Day Delhi Tour by Car.

Explore the beauty of City Palace- It is also made by Sawai Jaisingh between 1729 to 1732 AD.  Located in the heart of the Pink City Jaipur, the City Palace was where the Maharaja reigned from. This palace also includes the famous 'Chandra Mahal' and 'Mubarak Mahal', and other buildings which form a part of the palace complex. The palace is located towards the northeast side of central Jaipur and has many courtyards and buildings. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II is known to have commissioned work for building the outer wall of the city's complex. He shifted from Amer to Jaipur due to water problems and an increase in population in 1727. He had entrusted the city's architectural design to the chief architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. The architect went on to design the City Palace in accordance with the Vaastushastra texts.

History of Pink City- Jaipur has been popularized with the name of Pink City because of the color of the stone exclusively used for the construction of all the structures. Anyone who has witnessed the city can substantiate the fact that all the buildings of Jaipur are pink in color. The pink color has its own history. In 1876, the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria visited India on a tour. Since pink denotes the color of hospitality, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted the whole city pink in color to welcome the guests. The tradition has been sincerely followed by the residents who are now, by law, compelled to maintain the pink color.
